Ceremony: A formal series of acts which follow certain customs, such as a marriage ceremony.
Culture: The beliefs, social patterns and everyday life shared by people in a certain place and time.
Encyclopedia: A book or set of books with information on all subjects arranged in alphabetical order.
Equator: An imaginary line around the earth which is equal distance from the north pole and the south pole.
Fiction: A creative or made-up story.
Geography: The study of living and nonliving things in an area of the world.
Habitat: The place where a plant or animal lives and grows. A habitat may be a wetland, a forest, or your own backyard.
Hemisphere: One of the halves of the earth as divided by the equator.
Nonfiction: True facts about a subject or event.
Peninsula: A piece of land that juts out into the water and is nearly surrounded by water.
Symbol: Something that stands for something else. For example, our flag is a symbol for our country.
Teepee: A cone-shaped tent made of animal skins or tree bark, used as a home by American Indians.
Ton: A measure of weight equal to 2,000 pounds.
